1st shoot w/ the twin P-64s.
1968 & 1969 P-64s. After reading about the felt recoil of these guns, I was ready for the worst shooting experience ever. Nah! These pistols are fun, fun, fun. Yeah, it's sorta snappy, but no big deal at all. May have made some difference that I fired a 12 gauge earlier that day? I do have hands...

Modify blued P64 slide to stainless?
Can it be done? I think I saw a pic somewhere of a stainless P64. That would be sweet. Wonder how much it would cost, or if it's something I could DIY?

Re: Leaving magazines loaded.
Yeah. Thanks, Double Tap!! Good info indeed. And thank you, GA400, for inquiring about mag lube.
Feeling much more settled now. I just wish mags for this pistol were more common. I'd snag a few.

Leaving magazines loaded.
I've heard differing opinions about whether or not it's bad.
Thoughts?

Re: Blew up my P64
I didn't know Wolf ammo was bad enough to blow your gun up. Jeez. Horrible.
So, what's the best 9x18? I have some Fiocchi & some Silver Bear, both FMJ & JHP. I've considered Buffalo Bore, but don't wanna blow my gun up!

Re: P-64 as a firearm for SHTF/WROL/TEOTWAWKI/zombie apocaly
Lol... I might snoop around & see if I can find a couple more P-64s in my area. They are simply irresistible. At half the price of a modern semi auto, I can pass a couple out to my fellow zombie survivors to help hold down the fort. I put 17lb springs on my '68 & '69. Feels much more reasona...

Re: P-64 as a firearm for SHTF/WROL/TEOTWAWKI/zombie apocaly
Didn't know breaking parts were so common on the P-64, or were you merely saying that replacement parts don't exist for the P-64? My insurance policy was to buy two and consider it one with a set of spare parts. But yeah, I am tempted to get something more modern if possible. On a tight budget and I...

Re: P-64 as a firearm for SHTF/WROL/TEOTWAWKI/zombie apocaly
Thanks for the bluing info. Dug up an interesting set of opinions on another forum. The original post in this thread sums up some thoughts I had about post-SHTF ammo availability... http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/shtf-survival-disaster-preparedness/158512-some-shtf-observations-misconceptions-long.htm...

P-64 as a firearm for SHTF/WROL/TEOTWAWKI/zombie apocalypse.
Anyone ever discuss this here? Haha... Hypothetical, of course. Nothing bad will ever happen. But yeah, the only thing I think it has going against it is limited availability of ammo after the s#!+ hits the fan. 9x18 is nowhere near as common as something like 9x19. I thought about getting a ...
