Re: weapons used in self defense
What you need are Defensive Gun Uses (DGU) studies. There are a good 5 or 7. I'll see if I can dig them out real quick... [edit] ===================== No. of Defensive Gun Uses per Year Source 2.1 million Point Blank: Guns & Violence in America, Gary Kleck 989,883 "Measuring Civilian Defens...

Re: Buffalo Bore, who has used it?
There is buzz in other forums that the 380 version may be over pressure. Not "may be." IS . BB specifically confirmed that they have loaded their proprietary .380ACP "+P" ammunition to roughly 16% over SAAMI spec. This seems to be a reversal from what they had claimed several ye...

Re: Bulgarian Makarov
I have a chance to pick up a Bulgarian Makarov , Should I ? Yes, depending on price, of course. carry the P64 and p83 and love the p83 a lot. What is the Bulgarian Like. thanks brian About the same as the P83 but a tad thinner in the grip with a spurless hammer. Both recoil and shooting comfort are...

Re: P83 review and analysis
Is this gun "better" than the P64? yes, by a mile Yeeeah... Define "better." The P83 trigger is "better," it has more magazine capacity, and is more pleasant to shoot. The P64, OTOH, has higher quality machining, no stampings, and a superior grade of bluing, altogether...

Re: Re:Norinco T59 Chineese Makarov
Just bought my Norinco T59 Makarov, I own one, purchased before President Bill Clitton banned their import. Mine is chambered in 9x18 Makarov as are all of them that I have ever heard of. and found interesting reading in the manual that came with it. It says the gun is 9×18 Ultra. The key word bein...

Re: 9x18 PPU, and Buffalo Bore 9x18 +P 95 gr JHP
I am not positive so don't quote me, but someone told me that +P ammo in both 9mm Mak and 380 were NOT SAMMI approved and so anything marked as +P in those calibers was suspect. I've seen and shot BuffaloBore ammo in 380 +P and it was a bit snappier than regular but I did get admonished that the +P...

Re: Need advice please
Looks pretty close to me, but it's hard to tell by photo. Get a snap cap or build an inert and test. Feed the snap in from the magazine. Make sure that the slide closes all the way and that the trigger will engage, which means that the Out of Battery disconnector isn't preventing use due to the slid...

Re: Makarov 9x18 Long Barrel or Threaded Barrel
There was a small run of them made years ago, back when Makarov.com was still alive. I don't think that anyone has made any since. I imagine that the barrels are still out there, though I suppose most of them are installed. There may be a few of them sitting on the parts shelf of the odd collector h...

Sure. Just draw the temper first.gemini1 wrote:@ Iklawson, In lieu of bending, the FP back to shape, can you hammer it instead? Im just thinking that just bending it, may not straighten the pin, as it would by hammering?

Re: My P64 Let Me Down Today
You might be able to repair the existing firing pin. It's a 3 step process and will require a oxy-propane torch. 1) Use your torch to heat the tip of the FP (at the bend) to cherry red. Then let it air cool. 2) Using a pair of pliers and a vice (clamp the base of the FP in the vice using wood, just ...

Re: Cannot Remove Slide
Another trick is to brace the front of the slide, just above the barrel, on the bottom edge of a wooden table (that you don't mind scratching and gouging), then push forward on that. I've also used a 2x4 segment, standing up on its short side. This allows me to easily maintain the pressure. Peace fa...

Re: P-64 Extended Mag Release
What they are good for is an unintended magazine release, They put those up inside the handle for a reason. I've already tried one of those and spent most of my time picking my mags up off of the floor. Are you using the stock hammer spring or did you replace it with a lighter spring? Peace favor y...
