Hornaday bullets
I did some chronograph work comparing the Makarov, P-64, and CZ-83. As I remember (that data set is 10,000 miles from where I am now) the CZ-83 shot about 20 - 40 fps faster than the P-64. I attributed that to the 83's slightly longer barrel. I never thought about the difference the polygonal riflel...

I haven't logged in for a while - that is, I haven't read this thread for some time or I would have replied earlier. Your post makes no sense to me dick. I've stated honestly. Edit: I went upstairs and did the dishes thinking about this, and about dick's statement: " ...you seem to be looking f...

... I expect nothing less than civilized conversation and fair treatment of other members. It's really quite simple - if you have a problem with any member, EMAIL ME. So business as usual. If you expect only civilized conversation on an open gun forum I have a bridge to sell. Now, if that sounds to...

" ... the members should follow the lead of the ideas and directions of the one who runs the board ..." I agree completely papabear. But the point I was trying to make was that on this board the owner has chosen not to lead or provide ideas or directions or run the board or participate. We...

Well, I'm too contentious and too much of a target for such duties here. And I have some personal transitions that I'll write about soon that will prohibit me from moderating anything. I agree that Beasley is a good choice, and there are several others, I didn't mean to imply that I was listing my f...

Here's the most recent gelatin tests on 9x18, and if you scrutinize the post you'll find links to other 9x18 penetration testing: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=257184&highlight=9x18+gelatin The problem with the linked tests is that he didn't use the currently available Silver Bear;...

I don't fault the moderators for giving everyone a chance. But I do wonder about their motives here sometimes. Has Dick Funk and Abwher actively participated in this forum over the past year or more? The problem has been apparent here for a bit. There have now been 2 odd balls who have posted and re...

What happened? Poor management . Good riddance, I hope they take there forum with them, when they ride off into the sunset. Happy trails to them. orchidhunter Flower Stalker is this site's Resident Idiot. This forum could use a little of the moderating they used on this poor individual on Gunboards...

I got another Enfield #1 MK III British with crack
That is a very cool rifle Norm. I've always felt like I'm walking on the edge of a cliff concerning Enfields - one slip and I'm over the side accumulating them and looking for a 2nd gun safe. I'm also scared of K98s.

opinions about buying a 380
One thing I look at when considering a new pistol is how it breaks down for cleaning. That's a real plus for the Makarov with ease of dissassembly and it's 27 total parts. I haven't owned or shot a Bersa but I understand that they are quite a bit more complicated and that puts some people off. So if...

michaelap I'm a great fan of Stephen Camp. He wrote a good comparison of the Makarov and Bersa .380:

Four feet of snow? I thought I'd had a tough winter. Is your range at 12,000 feet?
