Re: New owner with a problem

Your slide does have some wear on the metal that surrounds the bolt face where the slide stop would engage. However, it doesn't look severe enough to cause any sort of battery issue. I also don't think the extractor looks bad. Hopefully the spring will fix the issue.

Re: First Outing, Several Problems

This is one of Norm's pictures. It shows the spring under the trigger bar piece. If the spring isn't holding the trigger bar in place, it could also rattle around as well.

Re: First Outing, Several Problems

It is normal for the disconnector to rattle around. It is only held in a slot and is allowed to move up and down without restriction. If you shake the pistol, you will likely hear it rattling. As for the trigger issue. The spring in the trigger mechanism that holds the trigger bar up may have come o...

Re: New owner with a problem

Yeah, the ear on each side of the extractor cause it to pivot in the channel cut-out in the slide.

Re: New owner with a problem

I never realized how rough my extractor is. Looks all corroded. Anyway, here are some pics. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/t_junius/extractor1.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/t_junius/extractor2.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/t_junius/extractor3.jpg http://i67.photobuc...

Re: New owner with a problem

I was thinking about it when I was going to sleep. I had wondered if the extractor wasn't going over the rim of the case head. That would make the slide look like the picture you showed, where the barrel was showing the amount that it was. Would be worthwhile to see about getting the extractor out a...

Re: New owner with a problem

OH MY! That is way excessive!!! Would be good to try another ammo brand and see if it is the same way. If so, the chamber must not be cut in far enough or something. This is where my case stops when putting it in the chamber: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/t_junius/p64caseinchamber.jpg Extra...

Re: New owner with a problem

Are you seeing the gap when you look in the ejector port? It is normal for the muzzle of the gun to protrude a bit past the slide when a round is in the chamber. Look at these 2 pictures: EMPTY CHAMBER: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/t_junius/P6050738.jpg LOADED CHAMBER: http://i67.photobuck...

Re: Safe to carry 1968 vintage with round in the chamber?

With the hammer the way it is, I'd probably carry one in the chamber and safety on. As folks stated with AD's when the pistol is dropped and the hammer is struck. Other scenario is when the hammer catches on something (such as a seatbelt) like another member posted and the gun went off. The hammer o...

Re: New owner with a problem

Christoff... welcome! When you say it is not going into battery, what do you mean? Is there a noticeable gap so you know the slide is not in battery? Or does the slide appear to be all the way forward but you have a limp trigger? Knowing which situation it is may help one of us figure out your probl...

Re: New Owner

Patriot, the reason for changing the mainspring for probably 99% of folks is due to "comfort". A lot of folks don't care much for the heavy double action pull so they opt to change the spring to a lighter one to make the DA pull more manageable. Other folks leave it be as they feel that th...
