Re: Hornady Critical Defense Ammo
I was more wondering if anyone has tried it in their P64 yet. I have cycled a couple of magazines worth through mine by hand but have yet to shoot it. The cone nose shape "should" feed very reliably. As for the penetration and expansion tests, the CD ammo is right up there. I wish Cor-Bon ...

Hornady Critical Defense Ammo
After watching the online stores for quite some time, I finally found the Hornady Critical Defense ammo chambered in 9x18 Mak at Cheaper Than Dirt. Has anyone tried this ammo in their P64? I just ordered 4 boxes. I'll post what I learn...

Re: the truth about trimming 9mm luger to 9x18 mak?
I've used cut down 9x19 brass for all my P64 hand loads with no problems. I doubt the guy knew what he was talking about. The only potential issue would be someone picking up your range brass thinking it was standard 9x19 and attempting to use it as such. I suspect it may cause feeding issues if reu...

Holsters for P64 that work for me
I primarily carry my P64 In an IWB/tuckable holster made by DM Bullard from Azle, Tx. It is a Walther PPK holster and it fits the '64 like a glove. I have been very happy with this holster and I highly recommend it. I have also tried a couple of the pocket carry holsters but I do not care for pocket...

Re: Grip Design and that little blister you get...
I'll give the Pachmayr a try. The Hogue was trapping sweat under the grip and causing the frame to rust. If the Pachmayr is easier to get on and off I'll try it.

Grip Design and that little blister you get...
Has anyone figured out an after-market grip design for the P64 that won't result in that little blister forming on the web of your strong hand? I have Zee grips with the thumb rest on my pistol and I've shot it with and without a Hogue Jr slip on grip but it doesn't seem to help. I always get a blis...

Thanks for the tip - I'll check it out.
As for pocket holsters - I've tried them. I didn't care for pocket carry. Just my personal dress habits/opinion. A good buddy of mine swears by pocket carry for his P64.

Re: I you use a Hoque Jr Grip on your P64...
I liked how the pistol felt in my hand with the Hogue, but it definitely causes sweat to wick up under the grip. You'll still want to remove the plastic grips often and keep a light coat of oil on the frame. I carry using an IWB leather holster using a sweat guard. I have begun getting more serious ...

...and carry IWB. In Texas, we sweat a lot in the summer. I shot my P64 quite a bit today and decided to do a detailed cleaning. My P64 wears Zee grips with a Hogue Jr grip over them (I hated doing that because the Zee's look good!). Anyway, I noticed a bit of rust under the Hogue today when I field...

Re: Considering getting a P64 for the wife
I recommend you let the wife shoot a number of different handguns and then decide for herself. I learned a long time ago that its better than "telling" her she needs a particular item. I did this for my wife and then she asked for my opinion (SHOCK...). We ended up purchasing a Bersa 380CC...

Re: Report - 93 Cast Loads and Bullseye
For anyone interested (although not a 9x18 Mak load), I also worked up a load for my wife's Bersa 380CC. I found that the 92 gr Meister over 2.9 gr of Bullseye with WSP primers worked well. I did not have my chrony with me yesterday, but groups at 15 ft were on the order of 1.5" off a sandbag r...

Report - 93 Cast Loads and Bullseye
I worked up a load for my P64 using Bullseye and the 93 gr LRN Meister cast bullet. I varied charge weight from 2.8 gr to 3.3 gr going in 0.1 gr increments and compared group size against Silver Bear factory ammo. I also intended to compare muzzle velocity - unfortunately, my chrono did not accurate...

Re: Hair trigger
The spring that primarily affects the SA pull is the sear spring - that one is hard to replace though! The trigger return spring does have an effect on SA pull. I was able to increase my SA pull from 3# to 6.5# by changing the trigger return spring to one of my own manufacture using stiffer piano wi...

Bluing Removal
Something else that works well is Muratic Acid. Start by putting the parts in water. Then slowly add acid until you start to see bubbles. The bluing is gone in seconds. Remove the parts and rinse in clean water. I wouldn't leave the parts in too long or else you may etch them. I have rust blued a co...

Recoil comparison
Recoil for the P64 feels pretty stout, but I don't think its any worse than some of the other light-weight mouse guns out there. One of the slip on Hogue grips helps. 50-100 rds per range session is the most I care to shoot out of it. I much prefer shooting my 1911 as far as comfort goes. I don't se...
