Double yep, I've seen 5 or 6 on Gunbroker and Auction Arms recently. Vaguely recall that it had more to do with a steel hardening process that was slightly inferior. All the FACTS are here on this site, but will take some searching. Info came from some of the excellent Polish contributors we had for...

115, you're now a full fledged P-64 lover! You must have big hands. Just alter you're grip a little so that big fat web stays out of the way of the slide plane. Also remember what we said about ammo over 95 grains causing excessive recoil, because of the mass it's pushing. Hot 95 gr or less seems to...

Interesting ammo post ...
My intention in starting this thread was to emphasize the caution of using ammo that is obviously bad for the alloy frame PA-63, but also potentially hazardous to the P-64. Responses seemed to focus on squibs and Wolf ammo. The first post on the Makarov board thread I referenced listed the following...

from another board. Seems to support my contention that ammo heavier than 95 gr can be hazardous to your health in these lightweight 9x18 pistols, especially in the PA-63.

Makarov VS P-64 My Observations
Ruskie, you need to know that the P-64 has only been imported for about two years. For CCW holsters, I don't know of ANYBODY who hasn't found that ANY Walther PPK holster isn't a perfect fit. It's really easy to search Walther PPK holsters on Ebay and get new ones much cheaper, or used ones for a fe...

Pre 1972 P-64 NEED ADVICE?
Papabear,
Looking forward to seeing you. Weather is perfect here now, so hope it stays that way for your visit.
Got a few more boxes of my favorite 9x18 Norinco green box at a good price. The discharge smell kind of reminds me of NAPALM IN THE MORNING!!! LOL.
Have a safe trip,
Stan

Pre 1972 P-64 NEED ADVICE?
Trigger pull is not consistent with model year. Nobody seems to know what parts availability and quality control were like, when the Poles were doing the bidding of the Russians. What pleases me most, is that these gems are milled precisely, are all in unissued condition, and are MUCH more accurate ...

Grinder, Glad we could help. This pistol is so solid and forgiving, that I have never seen a problem that was not easily fixed, unless carelessly caused by the owner. Yours was one of the toughest that brake cleaner may or may not have solved. Enjoy this great carry piece, and if you choose to remed...

Grinder, you could have the ONLY P-64 with a bad firing pin, but I doubt it. Try spraying brake cleaner or the more expensive gun degreaser into the firing pin channel, with the little plastic tube that comes with the can, or with WD-40. Most P-64's haven't had a problem shooting ANYTHING, including...

It's probably the 100 gr wolf ammo, and a P-64 that hasn't been cleaned with brake cleaner( after removing the grips).
Didn't you read my response? READ MY LIPS! HARD PRIMERS ON OLD WOLF AMMO MADE FOR MACHINE GUNS!
This small pistol was designed for 90-95 gr pistol ammo. Get the right ammo.

Grinder, NOBODY here has had a firing pin problem. Like most newbies, you haven't mentioned the ammo type(probably Wolf), or whether you did a thorough cleaning and lube before shooting your pistol. Give us a little more to work with. Hard primers on old Russian ammo could be the only problem. If no...

Walter recoil spring?
No, it won't. Only one used, so far that I know of, is the modified HK 25#.
Most guys have left the recoil spring alone, just making sure the small end goes on the barrel first.
You might want to check yours.

Recoil Reduction for a New P64 owner
thunder, the first thing you can do is to NOT shoot anything heavier than 95 grain ammo. Most recoil problems are caused by shooting loads that are OK in the larger, heavier Mak, but too much mass to push lightly for the P-64, unless you can handle the heavier recoil. The second easy thing to do is ...

Duggi, I have been here from the beginning, and have seen it all. 95% of the 16# have been perfectly successful, and 100% of the 17# and 18# have been perfect. Most 16# problems have been caused by ammo too heavy, like the 100 to 115 grain stuff. The newer guys have strong opinions, but don't know t...
